Breaking News! Disneyland to Reopen Next Month!!
Finally! The news so many of us have been waiting for – Disneyland Resort in Southern California is preparing to reopen on April 30th!
With capacity limited and social distancing protocols in place, guests will be welcomed back to enjoy the iconic attractions, characters, snacks, photo spots and merchandise (who doesn’t need another pair of Mouse ears???). Guests will also be able to experience new attractions such as Snow White’s Enchanted Wish for the first time.
Character cavalcades and surprise pop-up interactions have become very popular at Walt Disney World in Florida and the concept will probably make its way across the country as well. These are a great way to see lots of characters, some of them who haven’t been seen in a long time, while still being mindful of social distancing protocols.
Parades and nighttime events, such as fireworks, will return at a later date.
To keep capacity limited and to comply with the government requirements, Disneyland Resort will implement the Park Reservation system that has been in place at Walt Disney World since they reopened in July. Both a park reservation and valid theme park admission will be required to enter a theme park for all guests ages 3 and up. More details will be available soon, but until further notice per current state guidelines, only California residents will be able to visit the parks.
Guests will also have the chance to stay right in the center of it all as well. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will reopen with limited capacity on April 29th. The Villas at the Grand Californian, a Disney Vacation Club property, will open a few days later on May 2nd. As with the Walt Disney World resorts not all facilities or dining locations may not open with the resort. Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen at a later undisclosed date.
As always, the health and well-being of all guests and cast members are the highest priorities. Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street have been open for some time with new safety measures and operations changes. The theme parks will open with the same eye to physical distancing, enhanced cleaning and reducing guest contact. This comes from guidance from health authorities and from learning what works and what doesn’t at Disney locations around the world. These guidelines can change at any time so please be sure to check with cast members for the latest and for any questions.
This news is so welcome! Hopefully, guests from all over will be able to make plans soon for Disneyland. It’s time to Make Some Memories!!
