SPOTLIGHT: Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Located on the shore of Crescent Lake in the Epcot resort area, Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a deluxe level resort that has been a fan favorite since opening in November of 1990. The general theme of the resort is 19th century Newport cottage. With a light and airy feel throughout the resort complete with light woods and pastel colors, the resort is perfect for both kids and adults alike.

Rooms:   There are several room types at the Beach Club for guests to choose from. Room prices are determined by the category of room. The most economical choice at Beach Club is a Standard View room which can overlook a rooftop or parking lot. Garden View rooms have views of the lovely landscaped areas around the resort. Water view rooms will look out over Crescent Lake or Stormalong Bay, the amazing pool at the resort. All of these room types can sleep up to 5 adults and feature 2 queen-sized beds and a daybed. Bathrooms are spacious and offer double vanities separate from the shower and toilet room. Wheelchair accessible bathrooms, as well as rooms for the hearing impaired, are also available.

For guests looking for something a little extra, Beach Club does offer a Concierge/Club Level. Standard view, garden view and water view rooms are all available options and all come with access to the concierge lounge, The Stone Harbor Club. Guests also have several suite options at Beach Club to choose from as well. The resort offers 15 suites, including the Newport Presidential Suite.  The lounge serves continental breakfast in the morning, light snacks in the afternoon, hot and cold appetizers in the evening along with desserts later in the night. Coffee, tea, sodas, juices and bottles of water are available throughout the day. Beer and wine are part of the evening offering and cordials accompany the dessert choices.

Dining/Lounges:        When it comes to food and beverage options, Beach Club has lots of options for guests.

The Beach Club Marketplace offers hot breakfast items in the morning, sandwiches and salads throughout the day and select entrees in the evening. There are also grab and go items such as cereal, bagels, danish, and other baked goods available throughout the day. This is also where guests can find a coffee station, soda station and refrigerated items like yogurt, milk and some beer and wine, as well.

Hurricane Hannah’s is the resort’s pool bar and features burgers, sandwiches and salads. A selection of wine, beer and signature cocktails can also be found here.

Looking for a great burger with a shake or a sundae in a fun atmosphere? Look no further than Beaches and Cream. This 50s inspired space also features the legendary Kitchen Sink. Be sure to bring a big group if you plan to tackle this beast.

Cape May Cafe offers both a character breakfast and a seafood buffet for dinner. Dressed in their beachwear Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, along with Goofy stop at each table for photos and autographs at Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast. The buffet features breakfast staples such as eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries and of course, Mickey Waffles! The dinner buffet is a seafood lover’s dream. With steamed clams, mussels, shrimp cocktail and more, there is something even for non-fish eaters. Reservations are highly recommended for both meals at Cape May Cafe and can be made 180 days prior to check-in.

Martha’s Vineyard, which can be found next to Cape May Cafe, is the resort’s main lounge area. This bar features great signature cocktails, beer and wine as well as a limited food menu. With a couple of tv’s, this is a great spot to relax and watch the big game too.

Recreation:  The feature pool at The Beach Club is one of, if not the best, pool on all of Disney World property. Stormalong Bay features 3 main areas for guests of all ages. A sandbar area is perfect for younger guests and kids at heart looking to build sandcastles. If you are looking for some deepwater floating, grab a tube or noodle and head to the lazy river portion. Looking for a spot to cool off, the open area is spacious enough that it never really feels too crowded. It also features a sand bottom, which is a nice touch. A wrecked pirate ship is home to 2 water slides – a junior slide for youngsters and one for bigger kids and adults. There are several hot tubs located around the perimeter of the pool. Some can be hard to find at first glance, so be sure to check all the rock formations. This is a fantastic area to spend some non-park days or just to recharge in between park visits.

The Tidal Pool which faces Crescent Lake and Dunes Cove for guests staying in the villas are also available for guests.

Beach Club also features a Shipshape Fitness Center and Spa, for guests who are looking to keep up their workouts while away or looking for some “me time” in the spa.  There is also an arcade located near Stormalong Bay. A playground, volleyball pit and tennis courts are also available for resort guests. Shoppers will find food items, along with a variety of Disney merchandise and resort specific items at the Beach Club Marketplace.

Transportation Options:  Guests flying in and out of Orlando International Airport have the option of utilizing Disney’s Magical Express. This complimentary service transports guests and their luggage to their resort.

When it’s time to head to the parks, Beach Club’s location offers guests some great transportation options. For Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom days, guests can take buses to the parks. Buses typically run every 20 minutes or so. Beach Club does share buses with its sister resort, The Yacht Club. Hollywood Studios is about a 20 minute walk from the resort. The International Gateway entrance to Epcot is a 5 to 10-minute walk from the resort. The Friendship Boats also are an option for both Hollywood Studios and Epcot. These boats travel in a loop between the 2 parks making stops at the Yacht & Beach Club dock, the Swan and Dolphin, and the Boardwalk Resort.

When visiting Disney World, staying at the Beach Club is a wonderful choice for your stay. With easy access to 2 theme parks, beautiful rooms, lots of dining options, an amazing pool and more there is plenty for guests to fall in love with.
